Sarah Greenawalt (Reneker), Club Director and HS Girls CoachCoaching Experience: Coach Greenawalt came to RWP with 5 seasons of collegiate women’s water polo coaching experience from Division II California State University San Bernardino. Greenawalt has been coaching with RWP for the last 5 seasons.
Playing Experience: Greenawalt’s water polo career began in Riverside at John W. North High School in 1999. Following high school, Greenawalt competed at California State University San Bernardino.
Notable recognition: During her coaching career with the CSUSB Coyotes, Greenawalt was recognized as Coach of the Year in 2014. Prior to her coaching, Greenawalt picked up two All-WWPA Second Team achievements in 2003 and 2004, as well as All American First Team in 2004, ending her collegiate career with All-WWPA Conference First Team, All-WWPA Tournament First Team, CSUSB Female Athlete of the Year, and was runner-up for NCAA Woman of the Year her senior year. As a high school athlete, Greenawalt helped lead her team to two CIF Championship game appearances.
Casey Greenawalt, Assistant Director and All Around Assistant CoachCoaching Experience: Began coaching with RWP when the club first started in 1997. Greenawalt was Head Coach and Club Director for several years and recently finished his first season as the California Baptist University Men’s Water Polo Assistant Coach. Coach Greenawalt is also Head Coach to the SoPac Zone Women’s Olympic Development Program and the Assistant Coach to the USA Women’s Water Polo National Development Team. Prior to his Division I coaching career, Greenawalt was the Head Coach at Martin Luther King High School’s Girl’s Water Polo Team.
Playing Experience: Was a four-year Varsity member of the Arlington High School Boy’s Water Polo Team and continued his water polo career at Riverside Community College.
Notable Recognition: As a player, Greenawalt helped his team earn a CIF and League Title at Arlington and went on to set multiple records at Riverside Community College. Under Greenawalt’s coaching at RWP, numerous players have received multiple first-place tournament finishes as well as multiple teams qualifying each year to the Junior Olympics Platinum Rankings. During his 8 season coaching run at Martin Luther King, the Girl’s program has been the League title holders for 6 straight years, with a CIF Title and 2 CIF Championship Game appearances with a CIF appearance every year. Several of his high school players were awarded League, CIF, and All-American Honors with many players continuing their career at Division I schools. Many of his players at RWP and Martin Luther King have also made Olympic Development and National Team selections.
Alvaro Moreno, High School Girls CoachCoaching Experience: Prior to coming to the United States, Moreno was an assistant and head coach for a water polo club in Spain. There he worked with CW2H organizing practices, recruiting foreign talent, structuring weightlifting and dietary needs for players and serving on the club’s board of directors. Moreno recently finished his first season as the Girl’s Water Polo Head Coach at Martin Luther King High School.
Playing Experience: in the 1990’s Moreno played for Dos Hermanas water polo club in Spain and was selected to play for the Junior Spanish National Team from 1997-99 and also played on the Andalusian Regional team from 1997-99.
Notable Recognition: As a player, Moreno was selected as the “Best Local Athlete” for his team for three years straight. During his time as a coach in Spain, he coached 3 Senior State Championship for the Andalusian Tournaments (one at 16u and one at 18u levels). Twice, his senior teams qualified for the LEN Trophy and competed in Serbia and Greece. Three times his teams were selected for the Queen’s Cup which represented the top 8 teams in Spain. Within his first year as Head Coach at King High School, Moreno coached his team to a League Title and CIF Quarter Final appearance, with many of his athletes receiving both League and CIF Honors.
